I’m getting tons of email, MySpace, and Facebook messages from blog readers. I’m glad you guys are enjoying it, particularly, my home decorating escapades.
This past weekend was great. With Yves Edwards in town now, we’ve really started to work even harder and have been getting awesome sparring. We worked hard right through the weekend and through the early part of this week.
Tuesday was one of the best days so far. I sparred two hard rounds with Yves Edwards, and got some more good rounds in with JZ Cavalcante and former UFC competitor Marcus Aurelio. These guys are all legitimate, top 155-pounders and they all walk around at 185 pounds. Training with guys like that has always worked well for me. Aside from being big guys, they are strong and quick. So when I drop to 145 pounds, I feel like I have the edge. I feel like I don’t miss a beat because I’ve already been pushed by guys who are faster and stronger. I know that if I can fight with them, I can fight with anybody.
Right now, I’m walking around at 166 pounds. That’s perfect. Late last week, I had dipped to under 160, but dinner at Chima and eating properly has helped me put it back on. I don’t get too worked up about weight right now. If anything, I want to be at the weight where I’m at right now. I’ll really focus on the cut when we get two weeks or so from the fight.
Other than working hard this week, Yves and I are gearing up to watch the new X-Men movie this weekend. We’ve always been fans of “Wolverine.” Oh, and I have to put those blinds up that I bought last weekend. In case you haven’t noticed, I’m not too handy. I just bought a new drill from Home Depot, so I’ll give that a try. I swear that I’ve pretty much been living at Home Depot as of late.
If you think that hanging blinds is fun, I just got a new dryer at my house. A new couch, new blinds, a new dryer…that’s a pretty exciting week, huh? Ha ha.
Seriously though, I’m having a lot of fun. Training is going well, my house is coming together, and I’m surrounded by friends. It’s made me ready to do this fight. I’d go to California and fight this weekend if the WEC called…
