I gotta tell you, I’m really starting to get the hang of home decorating. After getting a love seat complete with pullout for my den, I realized that I was missing a key ingredient: blinds. So needless to say, I spent much of the weekend at Bed, Bath, and Beyond. I swear I’m going to be like Martha Stewart by the time I’m done.
Other than an exciting weekend of blind shopping, I was training hard at the gym. I just picked up Yves Edwards from the airport and he’ll be my main partner until the fight. He and I have a great relationship and I’m happy that he’s here. That’s what I like about training down in Florida at American Top Team. Everybody hangs out together, trains, watches the fights. We’re just a close group.
Most of us will be heading to a fight this weekend to watch one of the ATT coaches, Marcos Da Matta, fight. Then a group of us are going to one of my favorite restaurants, Chima. It’s a Brazilian steakhouse where you can eat as much meat as you’d like. They just keep serving you until you’ve had enough. I can’t even explain how much I love this place. The food is awesome and it’s endless.
For me, that’s about all you can ask for. I train so hard that I can really eat whatever I’d like until a week or so before the fight. Steak is definitely one of my favorites, so I’m looking forward to heading over to Chima with the guys.
As much as I love to eat, I’m making sure to get the right supplements into my body and stay healthy. I went over to the Champion Nutrition warehouse and loaded up on some essentials. I got multivitamins, whey protein, and a few other things that keep my body recovered and prepared. The other key is rest. I usually take a nap every day around three o’clock. We go so hard at the gym, I really don’t have a choice. After our workouts, I just crash. Right now, my body seems to be responding well. I’m feeling really good. I spar hard at the gym and am getting ample rest. I feel like I could fight this weekend if I had to.
Time to go get ready for another workout. Thoughts of Chima and blind shopping, for the time being, must wait.
