Training: A typical day of training is the same. In the morning I get in some cardio in with my strength and conditioning coach. Then I work with my standup coaches Andy Russell and George Garcia, have a little lunch, come back with MMA practice, and then help teach classes afterwards.
When and why did you start training for fighting? In 2006. I was coaching at my alma mater for the wrestling team and I took a fight on a whim because my friends didn't think I would do it.
What ranks and titles have you held? WEC Lightweight Champion, Two-Time NAIA Collegiate All-American, Black Belt in Taekwondo, and First-Degree Purple Belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu
Do you have any heroes? Jesus, my Mother, Clark Kent and Steve Rogers, Steve Costanzo...
Did you go to college? The Dana College in Blair, NE. Graduated with a double-major in criminal justice and sociology...
What is your motivation for the fight? I want to be the best and keep my title for a long time.
What is your favorite thing about this sport? The fact that you may never figure it out. It’s like a never ending puzzle and it keeps my mind and body very focused on learning and experiencing all that I can!
