Fighter Biography
Thoughts on opponent, Anthony Njokuani? Elite fighter, like everyone in WEC. Good standup. I'm happy to test myself against such higher caliber opposition.
Training: Wake up at 5:30, breakfast, running. First training session at 9:30 and I stay at the gym until around 1 pm. Go home, have some rest and back to gym at 6pm until around 8pm. Go to sleep early to let my body heal.
When and why did you start training for fighting? 10 years ago. I was looking for new challenges and I joined a newly formed BJJ team in my city, which we all helped to grow into the best BJJ/MMA team in Poland and Europe.
What ranks and titles have you held? BJJ purple belt, Muay Thai National Champion, multiple BJJ/submission wrestling and Muay Thai competition medalist.
Do you have any heroes? My coach Piotr Baginski for his honesty, training ethic, and dedication to his students.
What is your favorite technique? I don't discriminate , I love them all :)
What does it mean for you to fight in the WEC? Great opportunity, I'm very excited and can't wait to show my skills to the world.
Did you go to college and if so what degree did you earn? Sociology of human behavior
What was your job before you started fighting? I am a firefighter.
Most memorable professional fight (who, where, why)? The fight in Warsaw few years ago. I was coming back after a long break caused by injury, and it was my first fight in the cage with soccer kicks and elbows allowed. It was a back and forth war and I won by soccer kicks. My first real test.
What was your most challenging professional fight (against who, when, what was the outcome)? Same fight, against Adam Lazowski. TKO by soccer kicks.
Did you compete in any other sport(s) at college or professional level (what sport, where, how long)? I was cycling as a teenager for a few years.
Who were your training partners for this fight? Piotr Baginski is my main coach and he still trains with me every day, Marcin Parcheta for pads and standup sparring, and all of my teammates are helping me. Everyone is tough here so the fight is the easiest part of preparations.
Did you put more emphasis towards a fighting style or adjust your training to prepare for your opponent (what did you do differently/why)? My coach studies opponents thoroughly and knows what to put emphasis on in training. Every opponent is different, so we need to adjust a little.
What, other than WINNING, are you using for motivation for the fight? I want to perform for my teammates and open doors to the major leagues for Polish fighters.
What is your favorite thing about this sport? I love testing myself against different opponents and different styles. Competition motivates me.
How long do you see yourself staying in this sport? As long as my body can keep up with my intensive training regime.
