Fighter Biography
Training: I do cross fit in the mornings, then late morning I do some traditional lifting, hit a boxing gym around 4pm, and then MMA from 6 till whenever I feel like quitting.
When and why did you start training for fighting? Feb 03'. I was always a wrestler, so when I started training, naturally I fell in love with the competition side of the sport and challenging myself against another individual.
What ranks and titles have you held? I believe I'm ranked somewhere in the top 20 in the world. Different sites have different numbers but that's all it is, a number! WEC world bantamweight title, TFC bantamweight champ
Do you have any heroes? My little brother
What is your favorite technique? I like to mix it up a lot; there’s no secret I like to stand and bang though.
What does it mean for you to fight in the WEC? WEC is the cream of the crop, the best of the best. To fight in the WEC is everyone’s goal and dream and it means everything to be there in the mix.
Did you go to college and if so what degree did you earn? Went to college for 1 1/2 yrs
What was your job before you started fighting? Currently a full-time firefighter and part-time at Caster Maintenance Co.
Most memorable professional fight (who, where, why)? Probably the Chase Beebe fight. One fight I can't ever let down, it's a motivator!
What was your most challenging professional fight (against who, when, what was the outcome)? Again probably the Beebe fight
Did you compete in any other sport(s) at college or professional level (what sport, where, how long)? Wrestled and ran cross country in high school.
Who were your training partners for this fight? Duneland Vale Tudo, LA Boxing and New Breed Jiu-Jitsu
Did you put more emphasis towards a fighting style or adjust your training to prepare for your opponent (what did you do differently/why)? Just keep training the way I always do, a couple of new workouts were thrown in there so I think they are going to help and I’m always learning new things and trying to perfect them.
What, other than WINNING, are you using for motivation for the fight? Getting that W – what other motivation is there?
What is your favorite thing about this sport? The competition, finding your limits and exceeding them.
How long do you see yourself staying in this sport? As long as my body allows me
