Fighter Biography
Training: Start my day with strength training, head to the day job, after work I head back to the gym, work cardio, then on to Jiu-Jitsu and finish up with Muay Thai and Boxing. For cooldown, I jump rope, do sit ups and take a hot shower. I do that six days a week, but always take time for my lovely wife and three beautiful daughters.
When and why did you start training for fighting? I started training in 2008 and fell in love with the sport of MMA from day one
What ranks and titles have you held? As of now I haven't been offered a title shot so I'm looking for the WEC Belt.
What is your favorite technique? Muay Thai
What does it mean for you to fight in the WEC? This is the ultimate goal and dream for me. I am so thankful to have an organization that focuses on the lighter weight classes. When it's 20 below here in Minnesota, It's thinking about this day in the WEC that makes me work harder every day.
Did you go to college and if so what degree did you earn? I went to college but my schooling was cut short when I had my first daughter.
What was your job before you started fighting? Underwriter in auto finance
Most memorable professional fight (who, where, why): Against Brian Clark in Minnesota. He rocked me with a good right but I came back to win in the second. It's when I realized I could take a solid hit and continue on to win.
Who were your training partners for this fight? Rick Kline, Corey Washington, and my coaches
Did you put more emphasis towards a fighting style or adjust your training to prepare for your opponent (what did you do differently/why)? I won't be changing my style to face Paixao, but he is in good shape, so I will do more cardio to match his stamina.
What, other than WINNING, are you using for motivation for the fight? Winning is definitely a motivation, but I NEED this fight to even have a chance of working my way up to become a contender in the featherweight division.
What is your favorite thing about this sport? 1 on 1 Man to Man
How long do you see yourself staying in this sport? At least 10 more years.
