Fighter Biography
When and why did you start training for fighting? My college wrestling team got cut in 2004. There I met Matt Lininger (Dennis Hallman's cousin) on the wrestling team, he got me into MMA and I was hooked from then on.
What ranks and titles have you held? AX fighting Champion
Do you have any heroes? My Mom, Jesus
What is your favorite technique? Anything that gets me the W!
What does it mean for you to fight in the WEC? WEC is the biggest promotion in the world. I'm stoked to be fighting for them, this is what I've been working toward for the past six years
Did you go to college and if so what degree did you earn? I attended CWU for 4 years and was an exercise physiology major
What was your job before you started fighting? Full time student
Most memorable professional fight (who, where, why)? Wilson Reis in Elite XC because even though I lost the fight I learned a lot about fighting that style of fighter and I believe I walked away from that fight a better fighter.
What was your most challenging professional fight (against who, when, what was the outcome)? Wilson Reis, I hurt my knee and had never fought that caliber of a grappler before so I learned a lot from that fight.
Did you compete in any other sport(s) at college or professional level (what sport, where, how long)? I wrestled at North Idaho College for 1 yr Where I red shirted and then Central Washington University for 1 yr before the wrestling team was cut.
Who were your training partners for this fight? Anthony Hamlett, Sterling Ford, Charlie Shaw, Tyson Johnson, Len Bentley , Dennis Hallman, Brad Blackburn
Did you put more emphasis towards a fighting style or adjust your training to prepare for your opponent (what did you do differently/why)? I always train to win. It’s been intense but I wouldn't say different than training and preparing for any other fight.
What, other than WINNING, are you using for motivation for the fight? It's my first fight for the WEC so I want to make a good impression and all of my family and friends are traveling down to watch and support me. I want to be the best in the World and my name to always be remembered!
What is your favorite thing about this sport? I love the intensity, heart, and physicality of the sport and the mentality you have to have. MMA requires so much heart and willpower
and you can’t teach that; that’s why I love it!
How long do you see yourself staying in this sport? As long as I can until my name will be remembered among the greats!
