Fighter Biography

Thoughts on opponent, Scott Jorgensen? I think Scott is a very tough opponent. He’s very well rounded - we both are - so it will be a very good fight for sure.

Training: I go to the gym at 11.30am and do hard sparring then technique until 2pm then eat and rest then grappling at 7pm until 8.30pm then home and sleep.

When and why did you start training for fighting? I started fighting about 5 years ago, I used to box to keep fit as I played a lot of Soccer. I got a bit tired of boxing and a good friend of mine, Del Edwards, suggested I try MMA. I fell in love with it straight away and have never looked back. I couldn’t wait to get to the next training session and loved learning so many new aspects of Martial Arts.

What ranks and titles have you held? Cage Rage Featherweight Champion, Ultimate Challenge Featherweight World Champion

Do you have any heroes? Bruce Lee

What is your favorite technique? Striking

What does it mean for you to fight in the WEC? It means everything to me. To me this is the biggest and the best show to fight in for my weight. It’s been my ultimate goal that I've been striving towards for a couple of years now. I can’t believe I've been given this opportunity and I intend to give it everything I've got.

What was your job before you started fighting? I worked in fashion for a company called Maharishi in London

Most memorable professional fight (who, where, why)? It would have been against a Japanese fighter called Hiroyuki Abe at Cage Rage in London in 2007. He was once ranked the world’s number one and I had a small fracture in my wrist to which I was supposed to have a cortisone injection to numb the pain, but the doctor didn’t turn up. It was a really exciting fight which went 3 rounds. I won by unanimous decision and it was declared fight of the night.

What was your most challenging professional fight (against who, when, what was the outcome)? See above.

Did you compete in any other sport(s) at college or professional level (what sport, where, how long)? I played semi professional football for 4 years

Who were your training partners for this fight? Mike Brown, Brian Eckstein, JZ Cavalcante, Rafael Rebello and Snack Bar

Did you put more emphasis towards a fighting style or adjust your training to prepare for your opponent (what did you do differently/why)? I have been working on some techniques, drilling them a lot but on a whole, I train hard in all areas, as this is an MMA fight.

What, other than WINNING, are you using for motivation for the fight? I always motivate myself for every fight as I’m very competitive in everything I do, but also I have sacrificed a lot to the sport and I want to go as far as I possibly can and that won’t stop at Scott .

What is your favorite thing about this sport? To me, MMA is the ultimate test of fitness – it’s the most exciting sport in the world and I love how many different techniques and Martial Arts are involved. I love the unpredictability of the sport. Anything can happen, and it’s so exciting to watch.

How long do you see yourself staying in this sport? For as long as my body lets me; I’m not gonna go out easily!
