Fighter Biography

Training: Wake up, Conditioning, pad work with Duke, cardio, home and sleep, go back for jiu-jitsu / wrestling and MMA.

When and why did you start training for fighting? I have been doing martial arts my whole life since the age of five. My father would push me to train hard everyday.  On November 12, 2003 he was killed in a house robbery.  I knew from that day I would make him proud and become a professional fighter.

What ranks and titles have you held? Gladiators Fighting Light Weight Champion.  3rd Degree Black Belt in Tae Kwon Do.

Do you have any heroes? My dad, he was killed in a house robbery in 2003 and I still use many of the life lessons he taught me.

What is your favorite technique? I am a very flashy fighter so I like any technique that makes the audience go crazy.

What does it mean for you to fight in the WEC? This is a dream come true I just can’t wait to show the world my skills.

Did you go to college and if so what degree did you earn? Yes, I went to the fire academy.

What was your job before you started fighting? P.O.C Fire Fighter and Martial Arts Instructor

Most memorable professional fight (who, where, why)? My most memorable professional fight was March 29, 2008 against Mike Lambrecht.   I got slammed and dislocated my shoulder, but still was able to get a head kick knockout.

What was your most challenging professional fight (against who, when, what was the outcome)? My most challenging fight would have to be the same one from the question above.  March 29, 2008 against Mike Lambrecht.  I had to overcome the pain of a dislocated shoulder and win the fight. This fight definitely tested my heart and will to win.  I won 1st round via head kick knockout.

Who were your training partners for this fight? My training partners for this fight were, Ben Rothwell, Red Schafer, Pat Barry, Erik Koch, Sergio Pettis and all the other Roufusport fighters.

Did you put more emphasis towards a fighting style or adjust your training to prepare for your opponent (what did you do differently/why)? I really focused on my takedown defense and my boxing.  I know he is gonna try and take me down and grind out the win.   I also focused a lot on my strength and conditioning.  I’m ready for war!!!

What, other than WINNING, are you using for motivation for the fight? My dad’s birthday is two days after my fight and I will be winning this one for him.

What is your favorite thing about this sport? I love competition and there is always a challenge to learn more and grow as a fighter.

How long do you see yourself staying in this sport? I’m only 23 years old so I see myself staying in this sport for a long time.
